My motor seems to burn out prematurely. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

The number one cause of motor failure is lack of intake ventilation. The unit will burn out prematurely if you do not have intake ventilation to support the power vent. Each power vent needs 768 square inches of intake ventilation. Make sure the attic insulation has not covered the intake vents. It may be necessary to insert insulation baffles or to pull the insulation back away from the intake vents.
You can also adjust the settings of the thermostat / humidistat to a higher setting to cause the unit to run less.
